Off Chain Voting Risks

Risk

Off-chain voting risks stem from executing voting processes outside of a blockchain’s inherent security and transparency. This introduces vulnerabilities related to data integrity, manipulation, and lack of verifiable audit trails, particularly concerning governance decisions within decentralized autonomous organizations (DAOs). The absence of on-chain immutability means voting data is susceptible to alteration or loss before it is recorded on the blockchain, potentially invalidating the outcome. Mitigation strategies often involve cryptographic commitments and multi-signature schemes, but these add complexity and may not entirely eliminate the risk.
