Quorum Requirement

Governance

A quorum requirement, within decentralized autonomous organizations (DAOs) and on-chain voting mechanisms, establishes the minimum participation threshold necessary for proposals to be considered valid and enacted. This threshold, often expressed as a percentage of total voting power or token holdings, mitigates the risk of decisions being made by a small, unrepresentative subset of stakeholders. Properly calibrated quorum levels balance inclusivity with decisiveness, preventing both voter apathy and manipulation by concentrated interests, and ensuring sufficient consensus for protocol changes or fund allocations.
