Data Source Legitimacy

Provenance

Data source legitimacy refers to the verifiable origin and chain of custody for market information used in quantitative models and derivatives pricing. It establishes whether the input data—ranging from spot exchange feeds to off-chain pricing—remains untampered and reflective of true market equilibrium. Ensuring high provenance reduces the probability of ingestion of erroneous or manipulated information that could otherwise trigger erroneous margin calls or incorrect delta hedging.
