Off-Chain Surveillance

Offchain

The term “Offchain” broadly describes activities, data storage, or computations occurring outside the primary blockchain network. Within the context of cryptocurrency derivatives, this encompasses a wide range of operations, from order book management and trade execution to settlement processes and collateral management, that do not directly involve on-chain transactions for every step. This approach aims to improve scalability, reduce transaction costs, and enhance privacy, but introduces complexities related to trust and verification. Consequently, robust mechanisms are required to bridge offchain actions with the onchain ledger, ensuring data integrity and preventing manipulation.
