Block Finality Premium

Finality

Block Finality Premium refers to the additional cost or value assigned to a transaction or derivative contract based on the certainty and speed of its final confirmation on a blockchain. In Proof-of-Work systems, finality is probabilistic, meaning a transaction’s confirmation can be reversed by a 51% attack, creating a risk that must be priced. The premium reflects the time value of money and the risk of transaction reversal or failure, particularly relevant in high-value or time-sensitive derivatives markets.
