Off-Chain Order Matching

Off-chain order matching is a technique used by hybrid decentralized exchanges to pair buy and sell orders outside of the blockchain. By performing the matching process off-chain, the exchange can achieve the speed and responsiveness of a centralized platform while still settling the final trade on-chain.

This is particularly useful for order-book based derivative platforms that require complex matching logic and high-frequency updates. Once an order is matched, the result is sent to a smart contract to execute the trade and update the state.

This approach balances the need for high performance with the benefits of non-custodial, trustless settlement.
