Wrapped Bitcoin Standards

Asset

Wrapped Bitcoin represents tokenized Bitcoin on other blockchains, primarily Ethereum, functioning as an ERC-20 token. This standardization facilitates broader DeFi participation for Bitcoin holders, enabling access to lending, borrowing, and yield farming protocols unavailable directly with native Bitcoin. The creation process typically involves locking Bitcoin with a custodian who then mints an equivalent amount of the wrapped token, maintaining a 1:1 peg. Consequently, price discovery relies heavily on arbitrage opportunities between the wrapped token and the underlying Bitcoin spot market, influencing liquidity dynamics.
