W3C DID Standards

Authentication

W3C Decentralized Identifiers (DIDs) provide a cryptographic mechanism for verifying identity claims within cryptocurrency ecosystems, options trading platforms, and financial derivatives markets. These identifiers decouple identity from centralized authorities, enabling self-sovereign identity where entities control their own digital credentials. Within derivatives, DIDs can facilitate secure and verifiable counterparty agreements, reducing operational risk and enhancing trust in over-the-counter (OTC) transactions. The verifiable data registry associated with a DID allows for the secure storage and sharing of information relevant to creditworthiness or trading permissions, streamlining onboarding processes and improving regulatory compliance.
