Token Illiquidity

Liquidity

Token illiquidity, within cryptocurrency markets and derivative instruments, describes a scenario where a token or asset cannot be quickly bought or sold at a price close to its fair market value. This arises from a lack of active buyers and sellers, resulting in substantial price impact from relatively small trades. Consequently, attempts to execute large orders can significantly move the price against the trader, diminishing potential profits or exacerbating losses, particularly prevalent in less established tokens or thinly traded options contracts.
