Stake Based Validation Systems

Algorithm

Stake Based Validation Systems represent a class of consensus mechanisms employed primarily within blockchain networks, shifting away from purely computational proof-of-work towards economic incentives aligned with network security. These systems function by requiring participants to ‘stake’ a certain amount of a native cryptocurrency to gain the right to validate transactions and create new blocks, effectively tying validator behavior to the value of their holdings. The selection process for block proposers often incorporates factors beyond simple stake size, such as randomization and stake age, to mitigate centralization risks and enhance fairness. Consequently, malicious behavior results in the slashing of staked assets, providing a strong disincentive against attacks and promoting network integrity.
