Option Pricing Heuristics

Option

Within the context of cryptocurrency and financial derivatives, an option represents a contract granting the holder the right, but not the obligation, to buy or sell an underlying asset at a predetermined price (the strike price) on or before a specific date (the expiration date). These instruments, increasingly prevalent in crypto markets, derive their value from the volatility and price movements of the underlying digital asset, such as Bitcoin or Ether. Option pricing models, while theoretically sound, often require adjustments due to the unique characteristics of crypto assets, including limited historical data and susceptibility to rapid price fluctuations. Consequently, practical approaches, or heuristics, are frequently employed to refine pricing estimates.
