Optimistic State Transitions

Algorithm

Optimistic State Transitions represent a computational approach to verifying transactions within Layer 2 scaling solutions, notably rollups, by initially assuming their validity. This assumption allows for immediate processing and finality, enhancing throughput and reducing latency compared to on-chain verification. A fraud-proof mechanism is then implemented, enabling challenges to potentially invalid transactions within a defined dispute period, reverting the state if inaccuracies are detected. This methodology balances speed with security, leveraging economic incentives to encourage honest behavior among participants and validators.
