Off-Chain Identity Verification

Mechanism

Off-chain identity verification involves the process of authenticating a user’s identity through traditional, centralized methods, such as KYC/AML checks, outside of the blockchain network. The verified identity is then typically linked to an on-chain address or a cryptographic credential without exposing the full personal data on the public ledger. This mechanism allows decentralized applications to comply with regulatory requirements while preserving a degree of on-chain anonymity for transactions. It bridges the gap between traditional identity systems and blockchain.
