HotStuff Consensus

Consensus

HotStuff Consensus represents a practical Byzantine Fault Tolerance (BFT) algorithm designed for achieving agreement among a distributed set of nodes, particularly relevant in permissioned blockchain environments and increasingly explored for enhancing the finality of layer-2 solutions. Unlike probabilistic consensus mechanisms like Proof-of-Work, HotStuff provides deterministic finality, meaning once a block is confirmed, it is irreversible. This is achieved through a leader-based rotation scheme and a voting process that ensures a supermajority of nodes must agree on the state of the network.
