Consensus Layer Redesign

Motivation

Consensus layer redesign is primarily motivated by the imperative to enhance the scalability, security, and efficiency of blockchain networks. Existing consensus mechanisms often face limitations in transaction throughput, finality speed, or energy consumption, particularly as demand for decentralized finance (DeFi) and crypto derivatives grows. The need to support a higher volume of complex financial operations, such as options settlements or margin updates, drives the exploration of more robust architectures. Addressing inherent vulnerabilities and improving network resilience also serves as a strong impetus.
