Centralized Exchange Options

Exchange

Centralized Exchange Options (CEOs) represent a structured approach to derivatives trading within a regulated, custodial environment, distinct from decentralized protocols. These options contracts, mirroring traditional finance instruments, grant the holder the right, but not the obligation, to buy or sell an underlying cryptocurrency asset at a predetermined price (the strike price) on or before a specific date (the expiration date). The exchange acts as an intermediary, guaranteeing contract fulfillment and providing price discovery mechanisms, thereby mitigating counterparty risk inherent in over-the-counter (OTC) options trading. Consequently, CEOs offer a familiar framework for institutional investors and retail traders transitioning from conventional markets.
