Arbitrum Security Model

Architecture

The Arbitrum Security Model fundamentally relies on a Layer 2 optimistic rollup architecture, inheriting security properties from the Ethereum mainnet through fraud proofs. This design mitigates on-chain congestion and associated costs while maintaining a high degree of security, as any incorrect state transition can be challenged and rectified. Verification of transactions occurs off-chain, with a dispute resolution mechanism leveraging Ethereum’s computational power to validate rollup state. Consequently, the system’s robustness is directly correlated to the economic incentives for honest behavior among validators and the efficiency of the fraud proof system.
