Staking Requirements

Staking requirements are the technical and economic criteria that a participant must meet to become a validator on a proof-of-stake network. These requirements typically include a minimum amount of the network's native token that must be locked, as well as the hardware and software specifications needed to run a validator node reliably.

The purpose of these requirements is to ensure that validators have a significant financial interest in the success and security of the network, which aligns their incentives with those of the users. If a validator fails to meet performance standards or acts maliciously, their staked assets can be slashed, providing a strong deterrent against bad behavior.

Staking requirements also serve to limit the number of validators, which can help manage the overhead of the consensus process. However, high requirements can lead to centralization, as only wealthy participants may be able to afford to stake.
