Relayer Censorship Resistance
Relayer censorship resistance is the capability of a transaction relaying system to ensure that all valid user transactions are eventually included on-chain, regardless of the relayer's intent. In centralized relayer models, a relayer might refuse to process transactions from specific addresses or for specific protocols due to regulatory pressure or malicious intent.
Resistance is achieved by designing systems where relayers have no technical ability to inspect or reject transactions before broadcasting them. Alternatively, it involves creating mechanisms where users can bypass a malicious relayer and submit their transactions directly to the network or through an alternative, permissionless relayer.
This often requires complex cryptographic designs where the relayer acts only as a blind carrier of signed messages. Ensuring censorship resistance is vital for maintaining the permissionless nature of decentralized finance.
It prevents the centralization of power in the hands of those controlling the transaction submission infrastructure.
