Metadata Driven Valuation

Metadata driven valuation is the process of pricing assets based on specific, non-fungible attributes encoded in their metadata, rather than just their market price. In protocols that allow for unique data to be attached to a token, this metadata can signify specific rights, histories, or characteristics that impact the value of the unit.

This makes the asset inherently non-fungible, as two tokens with different metadata will be valued differently by the market. This creates a complex pricing environment where traders must analyze both the base asset and its associated metadata to determine fair value.

It is a departure from traditional financial instruments where all units of an asset are strictly identical.
