Depth Chart
A depth chart is a graphical representation of the order book, showing the cumulative volume of buy and sell orders at different price levels. It provides a visual overview of market depth and the balance of buying and selling pressure.
The area where the buy and sell sides meet represents the current market price. Traders use depth charts to identify support and resistance levels based on the concentration of orders.
A large wall of orders on the sell side, for instance, can indicate significant resistance to price increases. While depth charts are useful for quick assessment, they do not account for hidden orders or the speed at which orders can be canceled.
