Delegated Governance
Delegated governance is a mechanism where token holders assign their voting power to trusted representatives who act on their behalf. This allows users who lack the time or expertise to participate directly in complex governance decisions to still have a voice in the protocol.
Delegates are typically expected to act in the best interest of the community, and their reputation can be a factor in their selection. This model increases participation rates and allows for more nuanced decision-making by professionalizing the governance process.
However, it also introduces risks related to centralization if too much voting power is concentrated in a few delegates. Protocols must provide mechanisms for users to revoke their delegation at any time to ensure accountability and maintain the decentralized nature of the system.
