ZK Rollup Finality

Finality

ZK-Rollups achieve finality through a cryptographic process, fundamentally differing from traditional blockchain consensus mechanisms. This finality is not reliant on probabilistic block confirmations but rather on the validity proofs generated by the ZK-Rollup’s proving system. Consequently, transactions are considered settled and irreversible once the validity proof is verified on the Layer-1 chain, offering a significantly higher degree of certainty compared to probabilistic finality. This characteristic is particularly valuable for derivatives contracts and options trading where settlement finality is paramount to mitigate counterparty risk.
