Zero Days to Expiration

Risk

Zero Days to Expiration (ZDTE) options are derivative contracts that expire on the same day they are traded, exhibiting extremely high sensitivity to price changes and time decay. The primary risk associated with ZDTE options is gamma risk, which measures the rate of change of an option’s delta. As the option approaches expiration, gamma increases exponentially, causing rapid and unpredictable changes in the option’s value in response to small movements in the underlying asset price.
