Vega Risk Sensitivity

Definition

Vega risk sensitivity quantifies how much an option’s price or a portfolio’s value is expected to change for a one-percentage-point move in the underlying asset’s implied volatility. A high positive vega indicates that the position will gain value if implied volatility increases and lose value if it decreases. Conversely, negative vega means the position benefits from decreasing implied volatility. It is a critical measure of exposure to volatility changes.
