Rollup Fraud

Mechanism

Rollup fraud refers to the deliberate manipulation of state transitions within layer-two scaling solutions by malicious sequencers or provers. These bad actors intentionally submit invalid state roots to the main chain, attempting to finalize fraudulent transactions that deviate from the underlying network protocol. By exploiting discrepancies between off-chain transaction execution and on-chain verification, perpetrators seek to misappropriate collateral or alter asset balances without authorization.
