Reorg Risk

Consensus

Reorg risk defines the probability that a blockchain ledger will experience a chain reorganization where a previously confirmed block is discarded in favor of a competing longer or heavier chain. This phenomenon occurs when network participants find multiple blocks at identical heights, creating a temporary fork that remains unresolved until the protocol rules dictate a single authoritative path. For derivatives traders, this represents a structural failure in transaction finality that can invalidate executed trades or collateral movements.
