MEV Risk

Risk

MEV risk, within cryptocurrency, options trading, and financial derivatives, represents the potential for adverse financial outcomes stemming from the exploitation of transaction ordering and timing vulnerabilities within a blockchain or trading system. This arises from the ability of specialized actors, often termed “searchers,” to identify and capitalize on opportunities to reorder, front-run, or sandwich trades submitted by other participants, extracting value at their expense. Consequently, it introduces a systemic risk factor impacting market efficiency, price discovery, and the overall integrity of decentralized financial (DeFi) protocols and derivative exchanges.
