Finality Attack Vectors

Architecture

Finality attack vectors emerge when consensus mechanisms exhibit probabilistic settlement properties, allowing malicious actors to reorganize recent block history. These exploits target the window of uncertainty between transaction broadcast and irreversible state commitment, which is particularly relevant in derivative contracts where execution relies on timely price feeds and collateral snapshots. By intentionally delaying or splitting network agreement, an attacker can induce a double-spend or create inconsistent state snapshots that invalidate pending options settlements.
