Depth

Depth

Market depth, often referred to simply as depth, represents the total volume of buy and sell orders for a particular asset at various price levels around the current market price. It provides an indication of an asset’s liquidity and the potential impact of a large order on its price. A deep market has substantial order volumes at prices close to the bid-ask spread, suggesting high liquidity and less price volatility from large trades. Conversely, shallow depth indicates illiquidity.
