Clock Glitching Exploits

Mechanism

Clock glitching exploits involve the deliberate introduction of transient voltage fluctuations or electromagnetic interference to disrupt the internal timing circuits of hardware security modules or embedded devices. By forcing a micro-architectural transition at a precise, non-deterministic interval, an attacker can induce state errors that bypass critical cryptographic checks. This technique compromises the integrity of secure enclaves used to store private keys, effectively rendering tamper-resistant hardware vulnerable to remote or localized fault injection.
