BZX Attacks

Exploit

The BZX attacks refer to a series of exploits targeting the bZx decentralized finance protocol in early 2020, primarily leveraging flash loans to manipulate asset prices on decentralized exchanges. An attacker utilized a flash loan to borrow a large amount of capital, then executed a sequence of trades to artificially inflate or deflate the price of an asset on a specific exchange. This manipulated price was subsequently used by the bZx protocol’s oracle to settle a derivatives position at an advantageous rate, resulting in significant profit for the attacker.
