Validator Concentration

Validator concentration refers to the degree to which a small number of entities control a large percentage of the stake or validation power in a Proof-of-Stake network. When a few large staking pools or institutions control the majority of the validator nodes, the network's decentralization is compromised.

This increases the risk of censorship, as these entities could potentially collude to exclude certain transactions. It also creates a systemic risk, as the failure or malicious action of a single large validator could significantly impact network consensus.

Promoting validator diversity is a major goal for many blockchain projects, involving the design of incentive structures that encourage smaller, independent participants to join the network and compete for validation rewards.
