UTXO Realized Price

The UTXO Realized Price is a valuation metric calculated by dividing the total value of all Unspent Transaction Outputs at the time they were last moved by the total number of UTXOs. It represents the average cost basis of the entire network or specific cohorts of holders.

This metric is highly effective for identifying periods of market stress, as it shows the price at which the average holder is currently profitable or underwater. When the market price drops below the realized price, it often signals a capitulation phase where participants are selling at a loss.

Conversely, price levels significantly above the realized price suggest a market that is overheated or in a strong bull cycle. It acts as a psychological support and resistance level based on actual realized costs.

By analyzing this, traders can assess the aggregate risk and profitability of the market. It provides a more grounded view of valuation than market capitalization alone.
