## Unstaking Process

The unstaking process is the procedure by which a participant in a proof of stake blockchain network withdraws their digital assets from a locked state. When tokens are staked, they are committed to a validator or a smart contract to support network security and consensus mechanisms.

Initiating the unstaking process triggers a request to remove these tokens from the active stake. Most protocols enforce a mandatory waiting period, known as an unbonding period, before the tokens become liquid and transferable.

This mechanism is designed to prevent long range attacks and ensure that validators maintain a consistent stake during their tenure. During this time, the assets typically do not earn staking rewards.

Once the unbonding period concludes, the smart contract releases the assets back to the user's wallet address. This process is fundamental to liquidity management in decentralized finance.
