## Uncle Block Reward

An uncle block reward is a mechanism in some proof-of-work blockchains that compensates miners for creating valid blocks that are not included in the main chain. By rewarding these orphaned blocks, the protocol encourages decentralization and compensates miners for their energy expenditure, even if their block was not the one that propagated first.

This reduces the pressure to centralize mining power, as it makes mining profitable even on slower connections. From a financial perspective, this helps maintain network security and stability by preventing extreme competition that might otherwise lead to excessive chain forking.

It is an important incentive structure for balancing network efficiency with decentralized participation.
