## Thesis Testing

Thesis testing is the systematic process of validating a trading idea against historical data, market reality, and logical consistency before committing capital. In the crypto space, many traders enter positions based on rumors, social media hype, or superficial observations, which is the antithesis of thesis testing.

A proper thesis test involves defining the entry criteria, the expected time horizon, the catalyst for the trade, and the conditions under which the thesis would be proven wrong. This allows the trader to enter the market with a clear plan rather than an emotional impulse.

If the market data does not support the thesis, the trader must be willing to abandon the idea immediately, regardless of any initial conviction. This rigorous approach prevents the trader from becoming "married" to a position and helps them avoid the common trap of holding onto losing trades in the hope that they will eventually turn around.

By treating every trade as a hypothesis to be tested rather than a truth to be defended, traders can maintain the objectivity needed to succeed in highly volatile markets.
