Tamper Evident Packaging
Tamper evident packaging is a physical security feature designed to show clear evidence if a product has been opened or modified before reaching the end user. In the context of high-security hardware, this often includes holographic seals, specialized adhesive patterns, or fragile materials that break upon opening.
While this does not prevent an attack, it provides the user with the ability to detect if the device has been tampered with, allowing them to refuse the product before it is ever used. This is a critical first line of defense for hardware wallets and other sensitive security hardware.
It forces attackers to leave a trace, which acts as a deterrent and a signal to the user to exercise caution. By integrating physical security with digital security, organizations provide a comprehensive defense-in-depth strategy for their users.
