Supply Chain Interdiction

Supply Chain Interdiction occurs when a malicious actor intercepts a device during its manufacturing, shipping, or distribution process to install backdoors or malicious components. For cryptocurrency hardware, this is a major concern, as an attacker could gain control over the device before the user even receives it.

This could allow the attacker to influence key generation or steal funds once the user deposits them. To combat this, manufacturers implement tamper-evident packaging, secure supply chain logistics, and cryptographic verification of the device's authenticity.

Users are also encouraged to buy directly from official sources to minimize the risk of interception. This threat highlights the importance of the entire lifecycle of a device, not just its design.
