Seigniorage Distribution

Seigniorage distribution refers to the process of allocating the value created by the issuance of new tokens in an algorithmic stablecoin system. In these protocols, when the supply is expanded to meet demand, the difference between the face value of the new tokens and the cost of issuing them is known as seigniorage.

This value can be distributed to stakeholders, used to build a reserve, or burned to manage inflation. The way this value is distributed is a critical part of the protocol's incentive structure and long-term viability.

Poorly designed distribution models can lead to instability and lack of trust in the system. It is a central element of tokenomic design.
