## Redemption Mechanism

The redemption mechanism is the process by which a user can return their stablecoins to the protocol in exchange for the underlying collateral. This is the counterpart to the minting process and is essential for maintaining the value of the stablecoin.

If the market price of the stablecoin drops below the peg, users can redeem their tokens for collateral, effectively removing the stablecoin from circulation and pushing the price back up. This provides a hard floor for the value of the token.

The ability to redeem is a fundamental guarantee that the stablecoin is backed by real assets. Without a reliable redemption mechanism, a stablecoin would effectively be a fiat currency with no backing.

It is a key trust-building feature.
