Protocol Value Accrual

Protocol value accrual is the process by which the economic success of a decentralized application or financial derivative platform is captured by its native token. This can occur through mechanisms such as burning tokens to reduce supply, distributing a portion of protocol fees to stakers, or requiring the token for governance participation.

Effective value accrual ensures that as the protocol facilitates more volume, manages more assets, or generates higher fees, the intrinsic value of the token increases. This creates a positive feedback loop where the token becomes more valuable, attracting more participants, which in turn increases the protocol's utility.

Without a clear mechanism for value to flow back to the token, even high-volume protocols may struggle to maintain long-term price support.
