This alignment ensures that token holders, who bear the financial risk, have the power to steer the project toward sustainability and growth.

Misalignment occurs when governance is captured by short-term speculators, developers with conflicting interests, or external entities seeking to extract value. Achieving alignment requires transparent voting processes, clear communication, and structures that encourage participation from those with long-term commitments.

When governance is aligned, the protocol can adapt to market changes effectively. If misaligned, the protocol risks stagnation, internal conflict, or total capture by adversarial actors.
