Protocol Admin Keys

Protocol admin keys represent the high-privilege credentials that grant control over system parameters, such as interest rate models, collateral types, or fee adjustments. These keys are the most sensitive components of a decentralized application, as they hold the power to fundamentally alter the protocol's behavior.

Because of this, they are almost always secured by multi-signature arrangements or time-locked governance contracts. If these keys are compromised, the entire protocol is at risk of being drained or rendered unusable.

The history of DeFi is marked by instances where insecure management of admin keys led to catastrophic losses. Managing these keys effectively requires a strict separation of duties and rigorous operational security protocols to ensure that no single person has unchecked power.
