Proof of Stake Consensus Models
Proof of Stake consensus models are mechanisms used to achieve agreement on the state of a blockchain by leveraging the economic weight of participants rather than their computational power. In these models, validators are chosen to propose and attest to blocks based on the amount of native tokens they have staked.
This approach significantly reduces the energy consumption compared to Proof of Work and allows for faster finality and more scalable transaction processing. Various implementations exist, such as Delegated Proof of Stake or Liquid Staking, each with unique trade-offs regarding decentralization, security, and capital efficiency.
These models form the bedrock of modern DeFi, providing the necessary security guarantees for complex financial instruments to function in a trustless environment.
