Parachains

Parachains are specialized, individual blockchains that run in parallel within a larger network ecosystem, connected to a main relay chain. They are designed to be application-specific, allowing developers to optimize their chains for particular use cases such as finance, identity, or gaming.

By connecting to a relay chain, parachains inherit the security and consensus of the main network, enabling them to benefit from a high level of protection without having to bootstrap their own validator set. They communicate with each other and with the outside world through the relay chain, creating a unified and interoperable ecosystem.

This architecture solves the scalability problem by offloading transactions from the relay chain to the individual parachains, allowing the network to handle a much higher throughput. Parachains represent a modular approach to blockchain development, where the ecosystem is composed of many interconnected, purpose-built chains that collectively contribute to the network's value and utility.
