On Chain Execution refers to the process where trading actions, such as order placement, matching, and settlement, occur directly on a blockchain network rather than on a centralized exchange server. In this model, every transaction is recorded as a smart contract interaction, ensuring that the ledger remains transparent, immutable, and verifiable by any participant.

Because the settlement happens on the blockchain, the assets involved are often locked in smart contracts until the trade is finalized, eliminating the need for a trusted intermediary to hold custody. This mechanism is foundational to decentralized finance, as it allows for trustless interactions where code enforces the rules of the trade.

However, it also subjects the execution to the network's consensus speed, gas fees, and potential front-running by bots monitoring the mempool. By moving the entire lifecycle of a trade on chain, participants gain self-custody and avoid the counterparty risks associated with traditional centralized platforms.
