Node Operator Staking
Node operator staking is an economic security mechanism where participants in a decentralized oracle network must lock up tokens as collateral to earn the right to provide data. This stake acts as a financial bond that ensures the operator behaves honestly and accurately.
If an operator is caught submitting malicious or incorrect data, their staked tokens are subject to being slashed or confiscated by the protocol. This creates a powerful financial disincentive for fraud and aligns the operator's interests with the long-term health of the network.
Staking also provides a way to quantify the reputation and reliability of different nodes. It effectively forces node operators to have "skin in the game," ensuring that they prioritize the integrity of the data feed over short-term gains from manipulation.
