Multi Signature Wallet

A multi signature wallet is a digital asset storage solution that requires more than one private key to authorize a transaction. Unlike standard wallets that rely on a single private key, this setup enhances security by distributing control among multiple parties or devices.

It functions similarly to a bank account requiring multiple signatures for a withdrawal. In the context of cryptocurrency, this is often configured as an M-of-N scheme, where M is the number of required signatures out of N total available keys.

This mechanism significantly reduces the risk of a single point of failure, such as a lost key or a malicious hack. It is a fundamental tool for institutional asset management, decentralized governance, and secure custody.

By necessitating consensus before moving funds, it prevents unauthorized access and provides a robust layer of protection against theft. This structure is essential for protocols managing large treasuries or high-value financial derivatives.
