MEV Protection Strategies
MEV protection strategies are technical measures taken to prevent the extraction of value from users by validators or searchers. Maximum Extractable Value occurs when actors reorder, include, or exclude transactions in a block to profit from user activity.
Protection strategies include the use of encrypted mempools, where transactions remain hidden until they are included in a block, and the use of specialized RPC endpoints that route trades directly to validators. By reducing the visibility of transactions, these strategies limit the opportunities for sandwich attacks and front-running.
This is a critical area of development for maintaining the integrity of decentralized finance. It focuses on shifting the balance of power back to the user by ensuring that trading is not subject to manipulation by those who control the block production process.
